Mission

The George E. Hill Center for Counseling and Research is the training facility of the Counselor Education program. The primary mission of the Hill Center is to train Counselor Education masters and doctoral students. A secondary purpose includes providing counseling and human development services to area residents. A tertiary purpose of the Hill Center is to conduct counseling-related research.

Staff

The Interim Director and graduate assistants make up the core staff of the Hill Center. The Interim Director is responsible for the coordination of all center activities. Graduate assistants provide support for a variety of clinical, administrative, and research-related tasks as well as manage scheduling and other clerical activities. The Hill Center operates during the academic year, excluding university holidays and campus closures.

Facilities

A conference room in the George E. Hill Center

The Hill Center is an 11-room suite located on the fourth floor of Patton Hall. The center includes 2 conference rooms, 8 counseling rooms, and a psychological assessment library. All conference and counseling rooms are equipped with video and audio recording equipment for counselor training purposes.

The George E. The George E. Hill Center, through the Dr. Tommie Radd Professorship, also offers assistance to schools wishing to incorporate the Grow With Guidance (GWG) System. The GWG System can be easily aligned with the ASCA National Model. The GWG System by design creates a process grounded in multidisciplinary best practices and is integrated within the heart of the classroom and school/district. The GWG System includes the Educational System Foundation and the Schoolhouse Model.
