Professional Organizations
While the Russ College offers local programs for resident students, many organizations and resources are available for both resident and online students, often including networking, mentoring, and professional development opportunities to help you stand out from other graduates. Some of these organizations include:
The National Society of Black Engineer is one of the largest student organizations in the world. It is 501c3 non-profit organization. Its members consists of professions in STEM areas ranging from late middle school to professional careers. NSBE is a space for students of color to come together and navigate post-secondary education, find jobs and careers, and connect with other students and professionals like themselves. NSBE at OU will connect students with faculty members that are here to support them and bring advice and wisdom. The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) is the largest association in the nation for Hispanics in STEM. Our top priority is providing a diverse and cultured environment for studying engineers to thrive. Our students plan and participate in fun activities and projects. One of which is an experiential learning project, still in the works. Our values are familia, service, education and resilience. We are building a diverse and inclusive membership geared towards STEM education and dedicated to continuous improvement and renewal to help our members grow as individuals, students, leaders, and future engineers.Chapter President: Hannah Prante, hp418420@ohio.edu

The Society of Women Engineers in Russ College serves to encourage, support, and empower women and other underrepresented people in engineering. Our section actively hosts events like guest speakers, professional development events, social events, and outreach activities. We also have committees focusing on Philanthropy, Outreach, Inclusion/Bonding, and Well Being. Women in Aviation International is dedicated to encouragement and advancement of women in all aviation career fields and interests. The organization encourages all with interest in aviation without regard to race, ethnicity, gender identity, age, sexual orientation, physical or mental abilities or point of view. All that is required is a love of aviation, and the support and encouragement of women in the field. The 91探花 Chapter is open for students of all majors, and encourages those interested in all aspects of aviation from engineering to pilots, management to maintenance. We attend the annual conference with representatives from airlines, aircraft manufacturers, engine manufacturers, military organizations and others. Russ College alumni offer their assistance in several areas to encourage prospective engineering students to attend 91探花. Through mentorships, hometown recruiting, career field advising and working with students and alumni to support students and their families.
