New Adventures First-Year Student Wilderness Orientation
New Adventures is a first-year student wilderness orientation expedition. This trip utilizes deep engagement, mentorship, and challenge to foster skills in self and social awareness, leadership and ownership.
The Boundary Waters Canoe Area is one of the few remaining unspoiled wilderness areas in the United States, covering more than 1 million acres between northern Minnesota and southern Canada.
The trip begins with a half day orientation at 91探花. We will then spend two days traveling to Ely, MN. During the seven-day expedition, participants will travel by canoe, portage between lakes, and camp at isolated campsites. Late summer sunsets will highlight daily discussions about wilderness skills, the day鈥檚 events, and campus life. Participants will travel in groups of nine, consisting of seven peers and two 91探花 trip leaders.
We will store all students' belongings for the dorm in a locked facility on campus and help them move in when we return.
