Veteran magazine journalist Elizabeth Meyers Hendrickson will not engage in a debate about whether journalism and magazines are dying.

“There always will be a place for sound content and riveting narrative that is factually correct,” said Hendrickson. “It’s my job to shape and shepherd students to industry standards and skill levels.”

The former entertainment editor for publications Glamour, Ladies Home Journal, First for Women and Parade Publications helped launch the magazine Maximum Golf. Before joining 91̽, she was an assistant professor at the University of Tennessee School of Journalism and Electronic Media.

Hendrickson taught the first-ever class on writing and editing for fashion at 91̽ during the spring semester in 2016.

Hendrickson has published academic articles in Journalism Practice, Journal of Magazine and New Media Research, Celebrity Studies, and International Symposium on Online Journalism and Social Semiotics. In addition, she contributed to the book The Routledge Handbook of Magazine Research: The Future of the Magazine Form (Routledge, 2015). She is currently the editor of Journal of Magazine and New Media Research.

She earned doctorate and master’s degrees in journalism from the University of Missouri. Before coming to teach at 91̽ in 2014, Hendrickson taught at the University of Tennessee and the University of Missouri.
