Expert Bio
Geringer is the O鈥橞leness Professor of International Strategy and Director of Research at 91探花鈥檚 College of Business. He has also taught at universities in Canada, Indonesia, Hungary, Finland, Singapore, Taiwan, China, Korea, Poland, Australia, Brazil, and Italy. In addition to university activities, he consults with a variety of domestic and multinational clients, including several Fortune 500 and Fortune Global 500 organizations, and has trained executives from more than 80 nations.
He received his Ph.D. and MBA (with Honors) from the University of Washington (Seattle), and B.S. in Entrepreneurship and Small Business (with High Distinction) from Indiana University (Bloomington).
The most-cited faculty member in the College of Business, Geringer has authored or edited over 50 books and monographs (in English, French, Chinese, Vietnamese, and Indonesian), over 140 published papers, and over 40 case studies. He has published 14 papers in the Financial Times Top 40 Journals and has received 12 "best paper" awards from various scholarly organizations, including the Decade Award for most influential article from the Journal of International Business Studies and the George and Sara McCune Best Paper Award from the journal Group and Organization Management. He serves on the editorial boards of several prominent academic and practitioner journals. He has received the University Distinguished Scholar Award in recognition of his professional development accomplishments, the Research Impact Award for the impact of his research on business thinking and practice, the Research Mentor Award for his service mentoring students and colleagues, and the Lifetime Achievement Award for his cumulative contributions to business education and management.
Geringer has held leadership roles in numerous groups, including the Licensing Executives Society, the Academy of Management, and the Administrative Sciences Association of Canada. He has received recognitions for teaching excellence from programs on five continents, including the Outstanding Faculty Award for teaching excellence , the International Educator Award in recognition of excellence in promoting international education and programs, and the University Distinguished Teacher Award, the premier university-wide recognition for teaching excellence.
