Alden Library Reopens in Support of OHIO鈥檚 Phased Return to Campus

In support of the University鈥檚 phased return to campus, Alden Library鈥檚 second floor is opening to all registered OHIO students, faculty and staff, but with limited hours and in-person services.

While some students will be taking classes on the Athens and regional campuses, and others taking classes remotely, the Libraries will deliver services and resources to all.
鈥淔or all OHIO students who are aren鈥檛 invited back to their campuses, we are still delivering our services and our resources remotely,鈥 explained Dr. Kelly Broughton, University Libraries鈥 assistant dean for research and education services. 鈥淎nd, we can help them be successful鈥攏o matter where they are doing their course work.鈥
Beginning August 24, Alden Library鈥檚 second floor will be open:
- Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. (and)
- Saturday & Sunday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
An OHIO ID will be needed for card-swipe access into Alden Library鈥檚 second-floor Park Place entrance, and users will be provided with the following:
- Public computing, including specialized software and printing with Bobcat Cash;
- for individual study;
- Socially-distanced study spaces;
- And, an area for 鈥渃ontactless鈥 pick-up of requested items, including OhioLINK and Interlibrary Loan materials.
While in-person assistance will be available in Alden, users are encouraged to use the Libraries鈥 robust online help services during all hours.
The Libraries remains committed to delivering the highest-quality academic experience, while minimizing health risks to all by following the University鈥檚 commitment to safety.
Alden Library will be cleaned regularly in accordance with the University鈥檚 cleaning protocols, and for safety, all users will adhere to social distancing and the University's mask policy.
As we all work toward a safe and healthy environment, the Libraries鈥 staff is looking forward to another successful academic year and welcoming the OHIO students, faculty and staff back to Alden Library to reconnect with our services and resources.
