OHIO University Libraries is partnering with the  to promote the free to all Science on Screen®  virtual screening of , directed by Ian Cheney and Sharon Shattuck, running from June 12-June 17, 2020.  In our work as research librarians we work with scholars and scholarship; and we are keenly aware of the disparities within women and science.  In this time of social justice reform, as we celebrate 100 years of votes for women, we still have a long way to go.  #educatewithmedia

PICTURE A SCIENTIST chronicles the groundswell of researchers who are writing a new chapter for women scientists. Biologist Nancy Hopkins, chemist Raychelle Burks, and geologist Jane Willenbring lead viewers on a journey deep into their own experiences in the sciences, ranging from brutal harassment to years of subtle slights. Along the way, from cramped laboratories to spectacular field stations, we encounter scientific luminaries – including social scientists, neuroscientists, and psychologists – who provide new perspectives on how to make science itself more diverse, equitable, and open to all. ()

Ian Cheney's films include King Corn, The City Dark, Truck Farm, The Search for General Tso, Bluespace, The Most Unknown and Picture Character.
