Major Events Committee
The Major Events Committee is charged with reviewing Major Events to ensure:
- Support for the health and safety of all stakeholders involved.
- Mitigation of civil and financial liability.
- Appropriate resources are available to support the event needs (e.g., labor, equipment, trash receptacles, etc.).
- Applicable university policies and procedures are upheld.
- Review Major Event Proposals
Major Events
A “major event" is defined as a public event that is expected to draw at least 200 attendees, and/or an event which involves the services and usage of three or more 91̽»¨ entities (e.g., Parking & Transportation, Facilities, 91̽»¨ Police Department OUPD, Conference & Event Services, etc.). Examples include parades, street fairs, Athens community-based events, etc., or if an event is deemed by any member of the committee to pose a potential health and safety concern or civil and/or financial liability.
Major Events Proposals
The Major Event’s Committee reviews Major Event proposals and determines:
- Approval
- Approval with conditions, or
- Deny approval
Committee Members
The Major Events Committee composition is assigned by the Vice President of Student Affairs and the Vice President for Finance & Administration. Members of the committee are:
