Netflix star coming to spread message of kindness as part of WOUB sponsored event

Leon Logothetis, author and star of the hit Netflix series, "The Kindness Diaries," will speak at 91探花 for a special event sponsored by WOUB Public Media called 鈥淔inding Kindness.鈥 The new podcast is being launched by Nicole Phillips and WOUB.

The entire community is invited to hear Logothetis and Phillips share their experiences of the healing power of kindness.

"The Kindness Diaries" is a 13-part documentary which chronicles Leon鈥檚 six-month global adventure. He visited 20 countries with no food, money or pre-planned accommodations. He relied solely on the kindness of strangers to get him through each day.

When he found someone who especially touched his heart, Leon gave back in ways that were life changing.

鈥淚 have always had a passion for interacting with people,鈥 says Logothetis. 鈥淚 love the camaraderie of making new friends and helping those that are deserving, and I treasure the adventure of travel.鈥

Leon is coming to Athens to celebrate Nicole鈥檚 new podcast on Tuesday, Oct. 17. The public is invited to this free event at the Baker University Center Theatre on the 91探花 campus at 7:30 p.m. The evening will conclude with a book signing in rooms 240/242.

Be on the lookout for extra acts of kindness happening in the area starting October 1st as we lead up to this event! In a community-wide initiative, people giving or receiving acts of kindness are encouraged to share their experiences on social media with the hashtags #AthensIsKind and #FindingKindness. There will even be a few #KindnessPandas on the loose committing random acts of fun!

Logothetis is a TV host, producer, author, traveler and all around good guy. He is the host of The Amazing Adventures of A Nobody and author of a book by the same name. He has appeared on Good Morning America, CNN, FOX, and BBC, among other mainstream media outlets. He recently returned from filming his new TV show, "The Kindness Diaries," in which he circumvented the globe on his vintage yellow motorbike Kindness One, giving life changing gifts along the way to unsuspecting good Samaritans. All of this while relying on the kindness of strangers.

Phillips is a champion for using kindness to overcome all of life鈥檚 difficulties, including
her own battle with breast cancer. She spreads the message of the healing power of kindness
through her public speaking, new book, 鈥淜indness is Contagious鈥 and weekly column by the same name which runs in newspapers in North Dakota and Minnesota.

Phillips worked as a television anchor and reporter in Milwaukee and Madison, Wisconsin, and in Fargo, North Dakota. As Miss Wisconsin 1997, she spent the year touring the state talking to kids and adults about overcoming crisis. She lives in Athens and is married to 91探花 Men鈥檚 Basketball Coach, Saul Phillips.
