KMA Noon Talk with student Erica Spilger is Friday

91探花 Art History Senior Erica Spilger will host a Noon Talk on Friday, Nov. 3 at the Kennedy Museum of Art.

"Expression and Repression: Contemporary Art Censorship in America" is an Honors Tutorial College thesis exhibition curated by Spilger, featuring work by Sue Coe, John Sims, Kara Walker and David Wojnarowicz.

From 12:10 to 12:50 p.m. Spilger will discuss the artists' experiences with censorship and explore the effects of censorship on their work, introducing the censors, their motives and actions, as well as the aftermath of these repressive actions.

In conversation with one another, the experiences of the artists speak to the recurring forms and motives of art censorship in the United States, the potential of art to provoke dialogue and action, and the complexity of freedom of expression.

The talk is free and open to the public.
