CLDC to host ‘Prepare for the Fair’ workshops in advance of Feb. 14 Career and Internship Fair
From what you wear to the information you bear, 91̽’s Career and Leadership Development Center (CLDC) is planning a series of workshops to ensure that OHIO students and alumni are prepared for the upcoming Career and Internship Fair.
Free and open to all OHIO students and alumni, the CLDC’s spring semester Career and Internship Fair is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 14, in the Baker University Center Ballroom. This biannual event provides OHIO students and alumni a unique opportunity to explore job and internship opportunities while connecting with recruiters from throughout the country, all without leaving campus.
To help Bobcats prepare for this professional development opportunity and the job search process in general, the CLDC hosts a series of free workshops, which this semester includes a workshop offered in collaboration with University Libraries and focused on pre-event research. The “Prepare for the Fair” workshops are scheduled for Feb. 5-8 and include:
– Monday, Feb. 5, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the Amanda J. Cunningham Leadership Center on the third floor of Baker University Center. Participants will learn how to dress professionally – and on a budget – for both networking events and interviews.
– Tuesday, Feb. 6, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in Baker University Center 503. This interactive workshop is designed to sharpen participants’ resume and cover letter knowledge, providing them general tips as well as insight into how to personalize application materials.
– Wednesday, Feb. 7, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the Amanda J. Cunningham Leadership Center on the third floor of Baker University Center. Participants will explore resources to create a job search plan and receive tips for success before, during and after the interview.
– Wednesday, Feb. 7, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Amanda J. Cunningham Leadership Center on the third floor of Baker University Center. A resource already offered by University Libraries, the CLDC has added this to its “Prepare for the Fair” lineup. Business Librarian Chad Boeninger will share techniques and tools for taking knowledge of a company or industry beyond what can be found on the company’s website and through a basic Google search.
– Thursday, Feb. 8, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the Amanda J. Cunningham Leadership Center on the third floor of Baker University Center. Participants will explore their personal leadership brand, develop an elevator pitch and learn how to utilize LinkedIn and informational interviews for networking success.
Registration for the “Prepare for the Fair” workshops is not required.
