Campus Recycling, Passion Works to host Bobcat Recycle-Bots event Feb. 23
As OHIO continues in the national Recyclemania competition, Campus Recycling has teamed up with Passion Works Studio for an event involving robots and recycled material on Friday, Feb. 23, from noon to 4 p.m. at the Passion Works Studio located at 20 E. State Street in Athens.
The Bobcat Recycle-Bots event is a community building opportunity for students and community members to come together to sculpt robots out of recycled materials from the center and recycled materials from Passion Flower production.
鈥淧assion Works Studio has a long history of partnership with OHIO Campus Recycling,鈥 said Passion Works鈥 91探花 Liaison Rachel Clark. 鈥淲e welcome everyone from the University and local community to participate in the open studio to create the Recycle-Bots experience!鈥
The event seeks to promote upcycling and show that waste materials can become art. All materials at the event have been provided by the community through Campus Recycling and Passion Works Studio.
In addition, all participants have the opportunity to win gift cards and other merchandise from Athens businesses including DP Dough, Bagel Street Deli, Brenen鈥檚 Coffee, Donkey Coffee, Casa Nueva, Restaurant Salaam, OMG! Rotisserie, Union Street Diner, West End Ciderhouse, Jackie O鈥檚 and more.
After the event, the bots will be placed around Athens and on the Athens Campus, where members of the community can take photos of or with them and use their Twitter account to tweet it directly to . The entries everyday will be entered in a chance to win one of the gifts.
About Recyclemania
Recyclemania is a friendly, eight-week national competition for college and university recycling programs. During these eight weeks, the colleges will report their recycled and waste materials collected each week and are then ranked in various categories.
