iCUE Spotlight: Feb. 26-March 4, 2018

Hey there Bobcats! It's Week 7, and although we're nearly halfway through the semester, there are still plenty of ways to get involved on campus. From inspirational keynote speakers to caf茅 conversations to a hilarious play, there are tons of activities to experience this week. But we can't feature everything, so be sure to check out the for yourself, where you're sure to find an event or deadline that you want to know about! Read on for more info:

(Wednesday, Feb. 28, 5-6 p.m., Front Room Campus Coffeehouse, Baker University Center): The University's Caf茅 Series hosts Caf茅 Conversations, an opportunity for community members to participate in an interactive discussion with faculty presenters. This week, join Laeeq Khan, assistant professor of media arts and studies and director of the Social Media Analytics Research Team (SMART) Lab. Get there early because the first 50 people get free coffee!

  (Thursday, Mar. 1, 6:30-9 p.m., Nelson Commons): Born in Iran, Sara Safari is an author, speaker, mountain climber, college professor and advocate for women's empowerment. The United Nations Association awarded Safari the Global Citizen Award in 2015 for her efforts to raise funds and awareness for girls who become victims of human trafficking or who are forced into early marriage. Her keynote address is free and open to the public. But before the address, you can join Safari and WellWorks to at 9 a.m. in Grover Center E194. Participation fee is $10 for students and $25 for all others and proceeds will benefit the Empower Nepali Girls Foundation.

(Friday, Mar. 2, 8-10 p.m., Baker Theater, Kantner Hall): When the local community of a small Russian town learns that a government inspector - incognito - is coming for a surprise visit, a hilariously unfortunate case of mistaken identity sends the whole village spiraling into a world of panic and greed. The play will run March 3 with 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. performances, and March 6-9 at 8 p.m. There will be talkbacks following the performances on March 3 and March 7. Through Arts for Ohio, tickets are FREE for students with a valid OHIO ID. Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for seniors/other students. For more information, please call 740-593-4800.
