We're heading to the end of Week 11 Bobcats, and Week 12 brings International Week! The annual week-long event has been celebrated since 1979 and the International Student Union funds, programs, and plays an integral role in its success.
There are so many events happening at OHIO that it's hard to keep up. To make sure you don't miss a beat, keep tabs on the CUE! The CUE, ,is the best way to help you keep track of it all. Remember, anyone with an OHIO ID can add events that are happening across all OHIO campuses. Read on for even more information about what's happening this week:
(daily events - check the CUE for the full schedule): The School of Music and the Dance Division continue the 2018 World Music and Dance Festival which opened on March 26 and will continue through April 6. The festival features workshops and performances in African dance, Taiko drumming, and Native American song and dance - and all workshops are free and open to all students, faculty and staff! These events culminate in the Diversity Concert on Friday, April 6, at 7:30 p.m. in Templeton-Blackburn Alumni Memorial Auditorium.
(Tuesday, April 3, 7:30-9:30 p.m., Templeton Blackburn Alumni Memorial Auditorium): OHIO鈥檚 Frontiers in Science Lecture Series features scientists who have been recognized for their commitment to share their scientific knowledge with individuals of all ages. Elizabeth Kolbert is an American journalist, author, and Pulitzer Prize winner for her book "The Sixth Extinction: An Unnatural History." She has won many awards, including the 2006 National Magazine Award for Public Interest, the 2005 American Association for the Advancement of Science Journalism Award, and the 2010 National Magazine Award for Reviews and Criticism. Currently, Kolbert is a writer/commentator on environmentalism for The New Yorker. The lecture is free and open to the public but seating is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis so get there early!
(Wednesday, Apr. 4, 7:30-9 p.m., Walter Hall Rotunda): With one letter, Mousseau's life was changed forever: He was faced with the evidence of an experience he had no memory of and discovered he was a victim of sexual assault. The next two years were spent coming grips with his new reality and facing the nightmare of being stalked and blackmailed. He wrote down his experience - discovering he had the power to redefine his outlook - and made it his mission to empower others to do the same. Attendees will leave feeling prepared to create a culture of compassion while realistically facing a prevalent issue on campuses across the country. This event is free and open to the public.
