An outdoor recreation proposal that sprouted nearly 25 years ago has taken root thanks to the efforts of a diverse and growing group of national forest and local community leaders who envision the project as a means of elevating the region.

Danny Twilley and other OHIO faculty, staff, students, and alumni have joined the Athens Bicycle Club and representatives of the Wayne National Forest to build the Bailey Trail System, 88 miles of single-track trails for biking, hiking, trail runners, and nature lovers.
