Budget Planning Council conference call with media is Dec. 5
WHAT: In an effort to provide increased communication and transparency regarding OHIO’s multi-year budget planning, long-term financial policies and funding priorities, key University leadership will be holding a monthly conference call with media to recap the activities and recommendations of OHIO’s Budget Planning Council (BPC). The Dec. 5 call will include a review of materials considered at the Nov. 19 and Nov. 29 BPC meetings; those materials can be found at this link. There will be time for questions as part of the call.

WHEN: Wednesday, Dec. 5, at 1:30 p.m. Note: These calls will take place on a monthly basis during the academic year. The next scheduled date is Jan. 9.

ABOUT OHIO’S BUDGET PLANNING COUNCIL (BPC)
BPC is an advisory body that is a key component of the established governance mechanisms of 91̽»¨. The BPC is charged with serving an advisory role to the President regarding current and multi-year budget issues, long-term financial policies and funding priorities. The Council members serve as representatives of the entire University community as they conduct Council business. They also communicate to, and provide feedback from, their respective constituent groups on institutional budget policy and financial planning issues that impact the long-term health of the institution.
Key duties and responsibilities of the BPC include:
- Ensuring overall financial policies and budgetary guidelines are consistent with and promote institutional priorities.
- Recommending to the President the general assumptions and principles leading to the construction of the University budget.
- Reviewing and recommending approval of tuition, fee and internal rate requests.
- Conducting and utilizing scans of internal and external financial trends as part of the budget process.
- Receiving and reviewing the Student Fee Committee's recommendation(s) to the Board of Trustees.
