91探花 Zanesville and The Chamber to host The Future of Work and Education Summit

91探花 Zanesville and the Zanesville-Muskingum County Chamber of Commerce will host a community summit on the future of work and education at 7:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 27, at the 91探花 Zanesville/Zane State College Campus Center.

鈥淥ver the past few years, a national conversation about how automation, internationalization, and generational demographics will reshape both the kinds of jobs that will exist over the next two decades as well as the way in which work is performed has become increasingly pervasive. Experts predict that almost every job will be touched to some degree by automation and that nearly half of all jobs will soon be performed by computers rather than people,鈥 said Dr. Jeremy Webster, 91探花 Zanesville dean. 鈥淪uccess in the workplace increasingly requires complex problem solving, critical thinking, creativity, people management, collaboration, emotional intelligence, decision making, service orientation, negotiation, and cognitive flexibility.鈥

This Summit will allow participants to engage with international and regional experts in recruiting and managing the emerging workforce. The event will create a conversation between business and education leaders that ignites valuable collaborations.

The featured speaker will be Dr. David Delong who helps leaders implement practical solutions to address critical skill shortages created by major changes in workforce demographics, shifts in generational values and new technologies.

President of Smart Workforce Strategies, Dr. Delong is also a research fellow at the MIT AgeLab and has been an adjunct professor at Babson College where he teaches 鈥淟eading & Managing Organizational Change.鈥 He is co-author of "The Executive Guide to High-Impact Talent Management" (McGraw-Hill), and author of the widely-praised book "Lost Knowledge: Confronting the Threat of an Aging Workforce"(Oxford University Press). His most recent book is "Graduate to a Great Job: Make Your College Degree Pay Off in Today鈥檚 Market."

Dr. Delong's work has been widely cited in the New York TimesFortune Magazine, the Wall Street Journal, the Financial TimesHarvard Business Review Blog, CIO Magazine, US News & World Report and The Boston Globe. He has also been interviewed on NPR鈥檚 鈥淢orning Edition鈥 and 鈥淭alk of the Nation.鈥

Other presenters, include State Representative Adam Holmes, Bill Stewart of Stewart Glapat, and representatives from 91探花 Zanesville, Muskingum University and Zane State College.
