Klein to receive 91探花 Federal Government Alumnus Award
Ken Klein, executive vice president for the Out of Home Advertising Association of America (), will receive the Outstanding Federal Government Alumnus Award at 91探花鈥檚 Eighth Annual Federal Government Alumni Luncheon on Thursday, Sept. 19, at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C.
The event, hosted by 91探花 President M. Duane Nellis on behalf of the Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Affairs, honors alumni involved in service to the federal government or engaged in civic debate of federal public policy.
鈥淲e are honored to award this year鈥檚 OHIO Federal Government Alumnus Award to Ken Klein for his outstanding contributions that have helped to elevate OHIO鈥檚 national profile,鈥 Dr. Nellis said. 鈥淎s executive vice president for the OAAA, Ken has helped to promote OHIO鈥檚 students, faculty and staff, particularly within the nation鈥檚 capital.鈥
In Washington, Klein has served in leadership positions for decades, including chief of staff to U.S. Sen. Bob Graham. Since 2001, he has been executive vice president at the national trade association for the out of home advertising industry. In that capacity, Klein has forged award-winning collaborations to help the environment, public safety and law enforcement. Klein is widely published and quoted on advertising, free speech and new technology.
His more than 40-year career in media and politics started at the student daily newspaper at 91探花, The Post. He is still active with 91探花 through a position on the Dean鈥檚 Advisory Council for the Scripps College of Communication.
鈥91探花 is special; it opened the world to me and to many others. Now I feel a calling to make sure the world knows about 91探花,鈥 Klein said.
This is not the first time Klein has been awarded for his work; he earned the FBI Director鈥檚 Community Leadership Award in 2011.
