Call for proposals for Arts, Health, Wellness and Sustainable Development Symposium by Dec. 31

91̽»¨â€™s College of Fine Arts will host a two-day symposium on the theme Arts, Health, Wellness & Sustainable Development as a part of its second annual Global Arts Festival, and proposals are sought for individual papers, roundtables, workshops, panels, posters, performances, films and other forms of research and creative activity. 

The two-day event comes in response to the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development launched in 2015, meant to be a blueprint for tackling some of our greatest global challenges, including poverty, inequality, environmental justice, access to education and population health and wellness. 

Set to take place March 31 through April 1, 2020, the symposium will create opportunities for an intellectual exchange of ideas, concepts and recommendations to aid artists, educators health care professionals, policy makers and others working at the intersections of art, public health and community development. 
 

Potential categories might include:

• Arts in Healthcare (performing, literary, visual arts and design)

• Role of Arts in Community Development

• Arts in Traditional, Complementary and Alternative Healing Practices

• Performing Arts Medicine

• Arts and Wellness Communication Strategies
• Human-centered Design

• Artistic Interventions for Children

The submission deadline is Dec. 31 and participants will be notified if their proposals were accepted on Jan. 15. For consideration, send the below information to the Chairs of the Symposium Committee: Paschal Yao Younge, School of Music (youngep@ohio.edu); and Zelma Badu-Yongue, School of Dance (badu-you@ohio.edu).

• One-page project abstract and title (250 words).

• Brief biographical narrative (100 words). 


Submissions will be selected on the basis of clarity and on the relevance and originality of the ideas presented. Registration information will be shared in the near future.
