Heritage College 2020 Commencement ceremony postponed

91̽»¨ Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine and Chief Medical Affairs Officer Dr. Ken Johnson shared the following email with HCOM students on Wednesday, March 18, 2020:

Dear Class of 2020,

This morning, President Nellis announced that 91̽»¨ would be postponing the Spring 2020 Commencement ceremonies on May 1-2 and all graduation recognition activities. Accordingly, the Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine Commencement ceremony will also be postponed, along with all of our college’s planned Commencement Week activities.

To reiterate Dr. Nellis, these decisions were made in the interest of public safety and in alignment with recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in order to slow the spread of COVID-19. I have been in conversation with Scott Wong this morning, and we will continue to work together on plans for a postponed Heritage College Commencement celebration when it is safe to proceed with public gatherings of this magnitude.

Like you, I am deeply disappointed that we will need to postpone your graduation celebration. I am committed to working with class officers and leaders to reschedule this event for a time that is safe for our students, families and college community. Thank you for your continued patience during this incredibly challenging time.

Sincerely,

Ken Johnson, D.O.
