As we collectively mourn the loss of Black lives and acknowledge the extensive injustices perpetrated against people of color, this scholarship will be administered by the Division of Diversity and Inclusion in the hopes of underscoring 91探花鈥檚 commitment to inclusion and diversity and supporting our African American students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community.
The George Floyd Memorial Scholarship was established at the request of 91探花 alumni by 91探花 and The 91探花 Foundation in response to a call from the President of North Central University, Scott Hagan, for universities to create a scholarship in honor of George Floyd and the racial justice movement his death symbolizes. To date, more than a dozen U.S. colleges and universities have established such a scholarship, including Alabama State University, Mary Washington University, and SUNY Buffalo State College.
