Faculty find home in Lindley Hall as Clippinger renovations begin

Some faculty members whose offices are currently in Clippinger Laboratories will be temporarily relocated to Lindley Hall on College Green as part of the Clippinger Renovation Project.

Chemistry, physics, astronomy, and geography faculty will be the primary individuals impacted by the renovations. Chemistry offices have moved to the new Chemistry building. During Phase 2B, a small number of physics and astronomy faculty moved to Lindley Hall in May 2021 through either Fall 2022 or Spring 2024, depending on which area of Clippinger they will move back into post-renovation. Other physics and astronomy faculty, as well as geography faculty, will move into Lindley during Phase 3, planned for Winter Break at the end of 2022.

The Clippinger Renovation Project is being done in phases, with the first phase being the construction of the new Chemistry building鈥檚 first and second floors, completed in Fall 2021. Phase 2A includes the construction of the new building鈥檚 third floor, and phase 2B is the renovation of the east side of Clippinger Hall, which began in May. Faculty offices impacted will primarily move to Lindley Hall at this time and will be located on the second floor. Some faculty will relocate to offices in other areas of Clippinger.

Lab areas in Clippinger that will be renovated in Phase 2B have already been relocated to the new Chemistry building. Additional labs on the west side of Clippinger will remain operational in the facility until Phase 3 construction begins in January 2023.

Other faculty and teaching labs will move out of Clippinger for Phase 3 renovations in fall/December 2022 and are planned to be located in Lindley Hall until Spring 2024.

The 91探花 Board of Trustees approved the third and final phase of the Clippinger Renovation Strategy at its October 2020 meeting. The completion of the project will finalize the renovation and modernization of Clippinger Laboratories, extending the building鈥檚 life. The renovation will also address maintenance needs, replace mechanical, electrical and plumbing services and reprogram the interior space assignments to fit current needs.

The Clippinger Renovation Project is aimed at enhancing the groundbreaking research and teaching being done through updating the buildings with innovative and state-of-the-art technology.

The following is the construction timeline for Clippinger Hall:
