OHIO College of Business’ Andrew Pueschel awarded MAC Outstanding Faculty Award for Student Success for 2021

91̽ College of Business associate professor of instruction in the management department Dr. Andrew Pueschel has been selected as the 91̽ winner of the second annual Mid-American Conference (MAC) Outstanding Faculty Award for Student Success.

“Our faculty are extremely committed to student success both in and out of the classroom, especially Dr. Pueschel, who constantly serves his students and encourages them to go after their goals,” Executive Vice President and Provost Elizabeth Sayrs said. “I am very proud of Andrew for being selected for this award. He is very deserving to be recognized for his outstanding dedication exhibited throughout his interactions with student.”

The award recognizes the outstanding dedication Pueschel has demonstrated across all aspects of his interactions with students in the classroom and through student support and development in co- and extra-curricular experiences. It is awarded to one full-time faculty member nominee from each MAC institution who has shown a dedication to student success.

“It is such an amazing honor to be recognized as the 2021 MAC Outstanding Faculty Award recipient for 91̽,” Pueschel said. “In an outstanding student-centered learning organization such as 91̽, I am but one of many who are dedicated to maximizing our Bobcats’ success. I am thrilled to be associated with such an amazing group of peers - many of whom I have worked with in various capacities and others I am inspired to partner with in the future.”

In addition to being a professor, Pueschel also serves in many leadership capacities that support student success at OHIO including the faculty senate Educational Policies and Student Affairs Committee, The Copeland Core (First-Year Experience of the College of Business), Emerging Leaders (Student Leadership Development Program), College of Business Cares, and the 91̽ Dance Team.

“It is no secret that our Bobcats are resilient, hardworking, and dedicated to maximizing their own success, both at OHIO and throughout their futures,” Pueschel said. “My job is simply to nurture and reinforce this. I remind them that each day they spend at OHIO is filled with personal and professional development opportunities.”

College of Arts and Sciences professor Dr. Sarah Wyatt was selected as the 91̽ winner of last year’s MAC Outstanding Faculty Award for Student Success.

“I am also overjoyed to follow in the footsteps of the inaugural winner, Dr. Sarah Wyatt, as I share in her enthusiasm for the positive impact that occurs when research, service, and instruction align to support student success,” Pueschel added.

Award nominations were announced in conjunction with the MAC Basketball Championship on March 13, with the winners being recognized during the MAC Honors Dinner on May 26.

“One of the main reasons I’ve been so passionate about student success is that the mission and vision of 91̽ and the College of Business have aligned with my own personal values,” Pueschel said. “If I can inspire them to become lifelong learners who create positive impact in their own lives, the organizations in which they work, and the communities in which they serve, then I’ve done my job, and I usually have a lot of fun doing it.”

Five other faculty members were nominated for consideration for this award, including Francis Wymbs in the Department of Primary Care in the Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine; Christina Wright in the Department of Sports Administration in the College of Business; Thomas Stevenson in the Department of Human and Consumer Sciences in the Patton College of Education; Jana Hovland in the School of Applied Health Sciences and Wellness in the College of Health Sciences and Professions; and Theda Marie Gibbs Grey in the Department of Teacher Education in the Patton College of Education.
