HR Business Bobcats 'Refresh and Refocus' at 2021 Ohio HR Conference
Earlier this semester, the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and Human Resources Certificate Program executive board traveled to Columbus, Ohio, to attend the 2021 Ohio HR Conference. This year鈥檚 theme was 鈥淩efresh and Refocus.鈥 HR professionals across the state traveled to Columbus to spend three days hearing from an impressive lineup of speakers.
Led by their program advisor, Shawnee Meek, the HR students spent their time attending speaker sessions, covering a wide variety of HR topics, and networking with the HR professionals in attendance.
The Ohio HR Conference was the first trip SHRM, and the HR Certificate Program have taken since the beginning of COVID. Those in attendance found the conference to be an impactful learning experience and are excited for future students to attend in the coming years.
Here is what two students had to say about their experience:
鈥淚 learned so much about certain HR situations, like how to manage people and boost your employees to their highest potential. I cannot wait to attend more conferences in the future and push myself to be the best HR professional I can be.鈥
- Kate McEwan, VP of the HR Certificate Program
鈥淎ttending the Ohio HR Conference gave me an outstanding opportunity to embrace my passion for HR. I was able to expand my network and knowledge through the conference. I feel really lucky to be a part of such a great group of HR students at 91探花.鈥
- Cailin Klein, VP of Communications for SHRM
The Human Resources Certificate Program provides students with the skills and knowledge to determine resource management strategies, build top talent, and improve organizations. Students must complete the required coursework designed to incorporate practical, hands-on experiential exercises and activities to obtain the certificate.
The Society for Human Resource Management was created to bring together students with a career interest in Human Resources. The chapter is dedicated to exposing students to the various facets of HR and providing a forum where students can network, discuss HR topics, and apply elements of their education to practical situations. Students of any major are welcomed to attend.
