Student Organization Spotlight: Ohio Hockey Network

Welcome to Ossian C. Bird Arena, welcome to Bobcat Hockey, and welcome to the Ohio Hockey Network. Previously known as Bobcat Productions Presents Ohio Hockey, Ohio Hockey Network, or OHN, is a club run for students, by students, that is a live multi-cam broadcast of every home hockey game here at OHIO.

OHN provides students with the opportunity to get hands on experience with a Division I hockey team in broadcasting (play by play, color commentating, and interviewing), directing, video recording and postproduction, running a live camera, graphic design, and more.

鈥淭he culture of OHN is a creative team filled with talented students who are gifted in their craft but also willing to learn,鈥 said play-by-play commentator Samantha Garcia. 鈥淎ll of our staff is slowly becoming well versed in all aspects as we are professional. We also are a close group that constantly is striving to not only make our games better but each other better.鈥

The club has members from the School of Media Arts and Studies, the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism, as well as members from outside programs such as Environmental Studies.

It is a warm and welcoming environment that is a space for creativity and passion to flourish. There is an opportunity to work with advanced equipment and grow both in the professional and personal aspects of the working world.

鈥淚t is run for the students, by the students,鈥 a previous club member states, 鈥渁nd that is what makes it different. That is what makes it special. You have to work together and rely on each other to succeed. This is one of the best opportunities that I have had at OHIO, and I am so fortunate to have been able to participate.鈥

OHN is currently recruiting members for their 2021-2022 season, and any interested parties should contact Cade Edens or Samantha Garcia for further information.
