Be sure to cancel CVS COVID-19 tests if not keeping appointments
Several community members have been unable to book COVID-19 tests due to a high percentage of individuals not showing up for scheduled appointments at OHIO鈥檚 CVS testing facility on the Athens campus.
Students, faculty, and staff are asked to cancel CVS testing appointments at least 60 minutes in advance if they are not going to keep an appointment. Individuals can easily cancel an appointment by clicking on the link in the CVS confirmation email or confirmation text.
The University must pay for each allotted test, whether the individual arrives to take the test or not.
Tests are in high demand and every no-show appointment is a test another OHIO community member could have taken.
As soon as you cancel a test, it appears back in the scheduling tool for another individual to book. It is acceptable to arrive a few minutes early or late to your scheduled appointment.
Students, faculty, and staff who would like to take an asymptomatic test to check their health status may schedule a test through CVS or Vault Health on the Athens campus or pick up a test kit on regional campuses. Those testing at CVS or Vault Health on the Athens campus should note that the CVS test is a rapid nasal swab test and appointments can be scheduled up to a week in advance; the Vault Health test is a saliva test with results in 48-72 hours and appointments available to schedule weeks in advance.
