CIBED Society hosts Global Recognition Reception

The Center for International Business Education and Development (CIBED) hosted its first annual CIBED Society Global Recognition Reception on Tuesday, Sept 27.  Attendees from across the University celebrated OHIO’s focus on global experiential learning by recognizing individuals who help promote CIBED’s charge to provide Global Access with Global Impact to all Bobcats.

“The College of Business is dedicated to breaking down the barriers that challenge all Bobcats from reaching their true potential,” said College of Business Dean Dr. Jackie Rees Ulmer. “Our mission is to inspire innovators who strategically create value and we nurture self-aware citizens who better the world of business. What better way to bring our mission to life than through our global learning programs at CIBED!”

CIBED Director Dr. Andrew Pueschel is committed to providing opportunities that support the Center’s charge.

“At CIBED,” stated Pueschel, “we are passionate about global experiential learning as it is one of the most rewarding ways in which one can maximize their future success resulting in an increased feeling of inclusion and belonging through self-awareness and cultural discovery and the CIBED Society is yet another way that we are expanding our brand and impact.” The newly-formed student organization is a dues-free, meets monthly, and is open to all OHIO students who are participating in or are curious about global learning, skill-set development, and network expansion.

“No matter your major, the CIBED Society welcomes all Bobcats by creating a safe and shared place for growth and development, expanding our global network, and increasing the professional skillsets needed to maximize our impact on the world,” Brooklyn Stallworth said.

Stephanie Sharp, director of operations and student development at CIBED, also serves as an advisor to the CIBED Society and CIBED’s student employees.

“Our student organization was established to bring to life CIBED’s mission of ‘transcending the classroom to transform lives’ with hands-on, global business experience,” says Sharp. “We know student success is best realized by providing the guidance and resources needed to ensure all Bobcats can reach their true potential, and the CIBED Society is making that happen.”

CIBED Society President Brooklyn Stallworth, a University College senior earning a BSS in culturally competent event planning, participated in the Italy Global Consulting Program in Summer 2022. Her main mission is to help fellow Bobcats on their individual journeys to success.

“No matter your major, the CIBED Society welcomes all Bobcats by creating a safe and shared place for growth and development, expanding our global network, and increasing the professional skillsets needed to maximize our impact on the world,” Stallworth said.

Held in the Walter Hall Rotunda, the Global Recognition Reception included students, external partners, professional staff, and faculty. After a welcome from the Center’s director, Dr. Rees Ulmer, and Dr. Rapp, the CIBED program directors recognized individuals who have made a positive impact on the accessibility and quality of global opportunities.

“The CIBED Society Global Recognition Reception, now an annual event, will continue to recognize those who positively impact global experiential learning programs and opportunities, and we are proud that CIBED is leading the way in providing business consulting expertise on a worldwide scale,” said College of Business Associate Dean of External Affairs Dr. Adam Rapp. “We look forward to increasing our locations and continuously improving our offerings so those who participate can realize the impact they can make on their own growth—as well as on the companies in which they partner and the communities in which they serve.”
