Approximately 1,000 students joined the 91探花 Alumni family during the Fall 2022 Commencement.
The ceremony, which recognized both undergraduate and graduate students, was held on Saturday, Dec. 10, at the Convocation Center in Athens.
91探花 Board of Trustees member Cary Cooper convened the commencement, welcoming all Bobcats and their families before introducing the Army ROTC and Air Force ROTC members for the presentation of colors.
鈥淲hen you became a Bobcat, each of you brought your own backgrounds, cultures and experiences, and each of you added to our University community. Each of you helped to make 91探花 the special place that it is, and I want to thank you for being a Bobcat,鈥 OHIO President Hugh Sherman said to the graduates during welcoming remarks.
President Sherman also introduced Dr. Nukhet Sandal, associate dean in the College of Arts and Sciences and associate professor of political science, as the commencement speaker. Sandal is an award-winning teacher, a respected researcher and an expert in foreign policy, international conflicts and Middle Eastern politics.
Sandal stressed to the graduates both the importance of human connections and making time for personal relationships, even when life gets busy.
鈥淚t is our hope that as you are building bridges and nurturing healthy and strong relationships, you will always remember how much you are loved at home at 91探花,鈥 Sandal said. 鈥淲e hope that you will keep in touch and help us mentor the next generation of Bobcats.鈥
