Bobcat Parents & Families,

Words are insufficient to describe our collective grief and anger at the news of yet another school shooting — one that, as of Monday evening, has taken the lives of three students and injured five more at Michigan State University. Our hearts break for the lives lost and all those whose lives are forever changed by this senseless act of violence.

While awful news of this school shooting naturally creates fear and anxiety, it is important to reassure your student that their safety is our top priority. At OHIO, we follow an  that was developed in coordination with  to ensure the safety of our students in case of an event of this nature.

Why college students with a job do better

To work in college, or not to work? That's a common question on students' minds, especially when a full class schedule can feel like more than enough. While it's important to prioritize your studies, working through college has been shown to lead to better outcomes. Here are a few reasons why:

Meet people

Not only can you make new friends on the job, but working on campus can help you network and gain professional connections.

Get leadership experience

A job in college will help you gain practical skills, and working your way into a leadership role will make you stand out to future employers.

Improve time management

Managing a job and classwork can help you develop crucial time management skills. Learning to manage your time is the key to success in many areas of life as you waste less time procrastinating and, instead, focus on the day's priorities.
