New notification features available in the Go OHIO app

The Go OHIO app now has tailored experiences for the Athens campus, each regional campus and OHIO Online, with undergraduate students as the primary audience. Starting this semester, app users can opt in to receive push notifications for upcoming events on the Athens campus and Canvas Updates, as well as notifications and banner alerts within the app about other relevant information like financial aid deadlines. Please note that Canvas will only be accessible to students enrolled in Phase 1 courses.

Thanks to student feedback collected following the launch of the Go OHIO mobile app, the event notification feature was created to provide a quick way to learn what鈥檚 happening around the Athens campus. Users can opt in to start receiving push notifications on their mobile devices and event updates in their app inbox. Events highlighted will include student organization-hosted events, athletics events, well-being opportunities and more.

These notifications are relevant to students living on and off campus, and at this time, only Athens campus students. Based on feedback from app users during this pilot phase, there may be opportunities to opt in to even more personalized notifications in the future as well as notifications for those outside of Athens campus.

To opt in, just navigate to the Messages window in the mobile or desktop app, select 鈥淥pt-in channels鈥 in the upper right corner, and click the plus symbol next to the Athens Events channel. Notifications will begin during the first week of classes, January 16.
