Fall semester 2024 “WOUB Wednesday” schedule
WOUB Public Media and the WOUB Alumni Network are excited to announce that retired NFL Journalist Peter King will kick off the "WOUB Wednesday" virtual speaker series for fall semester 2024. King graduated from 91̽ in 1979.
“'WOUB Wednesdays' are a great way to provide students the opportunity to talk with industry professionals virtually,” said WOUB Editor-in-Chief Atish Baidya. “It provides them the chance to ask questions about the career they want to get into and network with alumni who are working in the field.”
During his career, King worked at many different media outlets, including Sports Illustrated, ABC Television as halftime correspondent for "Monday Night Football," CNN as an NFL reporter, HBO as managing editor and reporter of "Inside the NFL," and NBC Sports as reporter for "Football Night in America." He was named national sportswriter of the year in 2010, 2012 and 2013 in a vote of his peers by the National Sports Media Association. With the growing number of ways people are consuming information and the various online platforms to tell stories, King hopes aspiring journalists take advantage of opportunities to learn various forms of storytelling.
“Throughout fall semester, we have several former WOUB students and industry professionals scheduled to talk with current students and alumni,” said WOUB Community Engagement and Membership Manager Cheri Russo. “They are excited to share what they have learned out in the industry with current and other former WOUB students.”
"WOUB Wednesday" virtual discussions will be held on Wednesday evenings at 7:30 p.m. and are open to all current and former WOUB students, as well as WOUB staff. Those interested in participating can join at bit.ly/WOUBWednesday2024.
