Distinguished Professor
Clippinger 144, Athens Campus

Education

Ph.D., Institute of Semiconductor Physics, Akademgorodok, Novosibirsk, Russia (1991)

Personal Profile

Govorov's research is in theoretical condensed-matter physics. He studies optical and electronic phenomena in nanostructures such as quantum dots, quantum rings, colloidal nanocrystals, and nanowires. Among other topics, his research involves many-particle and light-matter interactions at the nanoscale.

Govorov is collaborating with many experimental groups worldwide. His ideas about the physics at the nanometer scale are implemented in many experimental laboratories around the world.

In his spare time, he enjoys sports, meeting friends, and watching international movies.

Govorov is the recipient of the Friedrich Wilhelm Bessel Research Award of A. v. Humboldt-Foundation, 2004 and several other international Awards.
