About Sandra Hoyt

My focus is on teaching at the undergraduate level at 91̽»¨. I teach for the online program as well as face-to-face courses.

As a social psychologist, I am interested in issues surrounding attitudes, prejudice, identity, and legal psychology. My past research interests have included work on prejudicial attitudes toward various social class groups, legal decision making by juries, and women’s feminist identities. As an avid equestrian, I have also examined the protective health behaviors of horseback riders and their attitudes toward wearing helmets. I regularly compete my horses in the sports of dressage and carriage driving.

I grew up in Southeastern Ohio and attended 91̽»¨ as an undergraduate. I believe my experiences as a first-generation, Appalachian student give me a unique ability to mentor students from a variety of backgrounds. I enjoy teaching dynamic classes that, hopefully, result in an engaged learning style by my students. I think all good learning should come with a bit of laughter.
