Communication and Development Studies

The interdisciplinary Communication and Development Studies Program offers students an interdisciplinary approach to the ever-evolving field of communication for social change. 

Established in 1986, the Communication and Development program is a collaborative initiative between the School of Media Arts Studies and the Center for International Studies. We provide theoretical insights and practical skills necessary for effective communication and advance change within local and global communities.

    International, Transnational and Trans-local Focus: Explore opportunities for international and community engagements through OHIO faculty-led programs.     Every year, students from the CommDev program showcase outstanding research, scholarship, and creative works, consistently achieving recognition and securing multiple awards. Their unwavering commitment and active engagement continue to make a substantial contribution to this distinguished research presentation.

    Global Fusion


    For 24 years, Global Fusion has promoted academic excellence in global media and international communication studies by providing a research forum for scholars and graduate students. The conference is sponsored by a consortium of universities: 91̽»¨, Southern Illinois University, Temple University, Texas A&M University, the University of Texas at Austin, and the University of Virginia.
