European Studies Undergraduate Certificate
The European studies certificate — open to students from any major — prepares students to understand the changing nature of European economies, culture and politics.
Europe maintains vital cultural and political influence on a global scale. This certificate provides undergraduates with a broad understanding of Europe. The curriculum involves courses from many disciplines and encourages students to study abroad. The interdisciplinary coursework and language skills of the European Studies Certificate are applicable to a wide variety of professions.

Certificate Requirements
The European studies certificate program requires a minimum of 23 hours and maintaining a 2.5 or higher GPA in certificate courses.
Courses and Languages
- Take the core course INST 1400 - Introduction to European Studies.
- Complete two years (four semesters) or equivalent of a European language. OHIO offers courses in French, German, Italian and Spanish.
- Take three elective courses such as European Economic History, Europe Between the World Wars, French Civilization and Culture, and many more.
