Mohammed Awal
Mohammed Awal is a dedicated communication and development professional with a focus on leveraging effective communication for social change. Currently pursuing a master's degree in Communication and Development Studies at 91探花 while serving as a graduate assistant at the Infectious and Tropical Diseases Institute (ITDI), Mohammed brings a wealth of experience in print and digital journalism.
With over six years of experience in the media industry, Mohammed has contributed to several prominent outlets, including the Ghanaian Chronicle, EIB Network (Starr FM), FACE2FACE Africa, The Africa Report, and Agence France-Presse (AFP). His recent role as Online Editor at the Business and Financial Times allowed him to focus on the SME, Fintech, and Digital sectors of the Ghanaian economy.
Mohammed's academic journey began at the Ghana Institute of Journalism, where he earned a Diploma in Communication Studies in 2013. His passion for the field led him to return for a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication Studies (Journalism), which he completed in 2017.
Committed to using communication as a catalyst for positive change, Mohammed is particularly focused on underprivileged and marginalized rural communities. He believes that empowering ordinary Ghanaians to make informed decisions is essential for meaningful development.
Guided by the belief that everyone has a unique purpose, Mohammed is dedicated to fulfilling his own by making a positive impact through his work in communication and development.
