Originally trained in the visual arts with an emphasis on Iconography, Worthy came to her Ph.D. in literature via the completion of coursework and comprehensive exams for a Ph.D. in Comparative Arts/Humanities (Interdisciplinary Arts). Her English dissertation focused on the figure and tradition of Mary Magdalen in the Medieval play 鈥淭he Digby Mary Magdalen鈥 and Shakespeare鈥檚 late play, 鈥淧ericles, Prince of Tyre.鈥
