Opportunity Hire Fund

91探花 strives to develop a climate that represents and embraces different cultures and identities. Through the support of the Opportunity Hire Fund, the University can employ highly qualified individuals who will bring unique contributions and perspectives from their lived, professional, scholarship, research and teaching experiences to our community. This enhances the University's ability to provide its students with relevant experiences and avenues to positively excel in our increasingly diverse and complex society.

The Opportunity Hire Fund offers three funding categories:

  1. Visiting Faculty Scholars
  2. Faculty/Staff Strategic Hire Fund
  3. Professional Development Enhancement and Retention Fund

Note: The Opportunity Hire Fund is not intended to support individuals in the Dual Career Network (DCN); however, positions are occasionally funded for spouses/partners as long as hiring is in line with the funding guidelines. University Human Resources (UHR) maintains a Dual Career Network, designed to help partners of new employees in networking and locating employment opportunities in the Athens area. If interested in the DCN opportunity, please visit UHR鈥檚 site at: Dual Career Network.

  • Visiting Faculty Scholars

The Visiting Faculty Scholars program enables academic departments and schools to hire exceptional faculty members who would enhance the quality and diversity of the department or school. Visiting Faculty Scholars are expected to diversify OHIO faculty in ways that increase representation from diverse intellectual traditions, educational institutions, life experiences, and/or backgrounds.

  • Faculty/Staff Strategic Hire Initiative

The Faculty/Staff Strategic Hire Fund is available to all academic and administrative units across campus. This initiative has been developed in the spirit of providing a more aggressive recruitment program as we seek to recruit exceptional individuals who will significantly advance the university鈥檚 fundamental goal of attracting a more diverse faculty and staff to help advance our strategic initiatives.

  • Professional Development Enhancement and Retention Fund

To support the success of OHIO faculty and staff who enhance the diversity of our institution, academic and administrative units may request Professional Development Enhancement and Retention funds to supplement professional development opportunities for a member of the unit or for the entire unit. In addition, faculty and staff who engage in research, scholarly or creative activities that contribute to the field of diversity, equity and inclusion may request funding.
