Julie Wiles
Assistant Professor of Instruction in Film
Julie Wiles is an accomplished filmmaker and educator with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Sculpture from Ohio State University and a Master of Fine Arts in Film from 91探花. She has extensive experience in creative development, production, and post-production for television and film across the United States. Julie has collaborated with renowned companies such as Leftfield Pictures, ITV America, Tupelo Honey, and McGee Media on a variety of series, including Brainstormers, Alone, American Restoration, Breaking Borders (featuring journalist Mariana Van Zeller and chef Michael Voltaggio), First In Human: The Trials of Building 10 (hosted by Jim Parsons), and a personal archival project for Mark Zuckerberg on Facebook.
Her documentary work is dedicated to de-stigmatizing mental illness through personal storytelling and challenging the pervasive misrepresentation of mental health issues and treatments in film and media. Her first feature documentary, WE ARE MARY, earned second place for Best Feature Documentary at the Bushwick Film Festival and was featured at the Columbus International Film Festival in 2017. Currently, she is in post-production on her second feature documentary.
In addition to her filmmaking, Julie has taught courses in Film Production, Editing and Post-Production, History of Film, and Film Theory at Florida Southern College, Columbus College of Art and Design, and Hocking College, where she served as the Program Manager of the Film & Video Production Program.
