About Graduate Student Senate (GSS)
The Graduate Student Senate (GSS) serves and represents graduate students at 91探花. We have a history of being a space for graduate and professional students to voice their concerns, as well as a body with the resources and connections to try to do something about them. Members of GSS have the opportunity to be a part of one of the many university standing committees, such as Graduate Council, Budget Planning Council, among others.
Graduate Student Senate is one of 91探花's four shared-governance Senates. The other three are:
GSS represents all 91探花 graduate and professional students and their interests. We examine issues that affect the graduate student community and submit reports and recommendations to The , Budget Planning Council, Graduate Council, , and to several of the college deans.
Graduate Student Senate is comprised of:
- Three Executive Officers: President, Vice President, Treasurer
- One Senator from each college
- One Representative from each department with a graduate program
- Commissioners who champion a variety of special interests (for example, Graduate Student Life- Housing, Women's Affairs)
- Various non-voting members involved in committees and other projects.
