Our Mission

The mission of the Oncology Club is to support medical students with a career interest in oncology. We aim to connect the Heritage College student body with faculty of medical oncology, surgical oncology, radiation oncology and their related fields, especially through shadowing, research opportunities, journal clubs, panelist discussions, community engagement and fundraising events. The ultimate mission of this Oncology student interest group is to support scholarship within the many fields of oncology for the greater good of our patients and society.

Services Provided

This organization aims to provide members with several opportunities to gain exposure to the field of oncology through shadowing experiences, attending biweekly tumor board meetings at OhioHealth O'Bleness Hospital, connecting with related faculty and learning more about various disciplines within oncology by having speakers come in to share their experiences and answer student questions.

Tentative Schedule for 2024-2025

  • Tumor board visitations at OhioHealth O'Bleness Hospital every 2nd and 4th Monday of each month 
  • Volunteer for American Red Cross Blood Donation Events
  • Chemo care packages or Nationwide Children's Hospital care packaging event, paired with Pediatrics Club
  • Journal clubs/literature reviews on cancer therapies
  • Relay for Life/Race for the Cure/Bobcathon involvement
  • Speakers for radiation oncology, Hem/Onc fellows, pediatric oncology and other disciplines of oncology.
