CTLA welcomes new associate director for faculty programming

The Center for Teaching, Learning, and Assessment (CTLA) announces the addition of Jeremy Henkel, Ph.D., to its leadership team.

Henkel joined the CTLA in late-June and comes to OHIO from Wofford College in Spartanburg, S.C., where he directed the Center for Innovation and Learning and was an associate professor of philosophy. His institutional service there included directing a faculty mentor program, developing a Summer Writing Collective, and membership on Rank and Tenure Committee, the Faculty Meeting Council, the President鈥檚 Advisory Council and the General Education Reform Task Group.

CTLA Executive Director Melinda Rhodes-DiSalvo noted that Henkel鈥檚 experience as a faculty developer and his many years teaching in higher education will benefit the center, which was newly re-envisioned and relaunched in 2022-23.

鈥淛eremy鈥檚 critical involvement in signature CTLA faculty initiatives will ensure OHIO instructors are able to lead, facilitate and participate in programming that meets their particular instructional needs and teaching and learning goals,鈥 Rhodes-DiSalvo said.

Henkel said he is excited to take on the new challenge.

鈥淭his is an exciting time to join 91探花,鈥 Henkel said. 鈥淲ith all the disruption that鈥檚 happened in higher education over the past few years, I鈥檓 thrilled to be part of a university that鈥檚 working so hard to make sure we鈥檙e giving faculty the tools they need to teach today鈥檚 students. I look forward to working with collaborators from across the University to bring to life a powerful vision of teaching excellence at OHIO and to help faculty deliver a high-quality education to all of our learners.鈥
