Refresh your Landing Zone knowledge with new self-paced online course

91探花鈥檚 Veterans and Military Student Services Center is launching an online refresher course to augment its successful Landing Zone military awareness training.

The course is open to OHIO faculty, staff and administrators who have already completed the full four-hour Landing Zone training, and who would like to refresh their knowledge of the training鈥檚 highlights including statistics, rules and regulations.

The asynchronous online refresher course is self-paced and takes one hour total to complete. Participants can access the course directly through the program in Blackboard (those who have not completed the full training will be unable to view the course). Faculty, staff and administrators who complete the refresher course will earn professional development credit within the Relationship Building Professional Development Pathway.

The full Landing Zone training will also be available online during the spring semester for those who have not yet completed it. The training will take place over four one-hour time blocks, each covering a different topic, from noon to 1 p.m. on Feb. 21, Feb. 28, March 6 and March 20. Participants can for each time block or only for those blocks they need to complete if they previously started the training but have yet to finish.

Since 2016, OHIO鈥檚 Veterans and Military Student Services Center has provided Landing Zone military awareness training to more than 340 faculty, staff and administrators across all campuses.

The Landing Zone training was created to assist individuals who are committed to providing resources and aid to veteran students at 91探花. The program seeks to provide its participants with an understanding of the unique challenges faced by veteran students, GI Bill implications on course selection, discussion of post-traumatic stress disorder and traumatic brain injury impacts on learning, and resources to assist this student population.

Questions regarding accessing the online trainings and refresher course can be directed to Michael Greene, learning and development administrator, at mgreene@ohio.edu
