Call for papers for new publication focused on societal impact of AI
A call for papers has been issued for a new publication that aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the societal impact of artificial intelligence (AI).
91探花 Assistant Professor of Instruction Dr. Tamanna M. Shah has announced the call for chapters for the 鈥淗andbook on the Sociology of Artificial Intelligence,鈥 with Emerald Publishers. This volume will explore the societal causes and consequences of AI, including its role in reshaping labor markets, privacy norms, political processes and social interactions.
Project overview
AI鈥檚 growing influence demands a rigorous sociological examination. This handbook will offer a theory-driven review of contemporary research, investigating AI's transformation of society, culture, and human relations. Contributions are requested on these key themes:
- Part I: Foundations of Artificial Intelligence and Society
- Part II: The Ontology and Epistemology of Human Data
- Part III: Uncovering and Debunking AI Myths
- Part IV: Imagining Equitable AI Futures
- Part V: AI, Ethics, and Policy
- Part VI: AI in Practice
- Part VII: Teaching a Sociology of AI
- Part VIII: Future Directions and Innovations
Submission guidelines
- Abstracts (300 words) should include three key references.
- A 50-word biography (including affiliation, if applicable) must accompany your submission.
- Deadline for abstracts: Oct. 10, 2024
- Deadline for full chapters (8000 words): March 30, 2025
