Students in the School of Visual Communication take part in numerous organizations that connect directly with their majors. Here are some opportunities that may interest you:
National Press Photographers Association at 91探花 (NPPAOU)
This organization brings together photojournalism students and any student interested in photojournalism. The group brings in speakers from the profession, shares work, provides opportunities to learn about the different aspects of the profession and hosts other events.
91探花 Multimedia Society (OUMS)
This organization for students who want to explore different aspects of design and multimedia. Meeting topics include software tips and tricks, web design and development, latest technology trends and gadgets, and even the latest YouTube videos. Trips to visit 铿乺ms and workplaces are also organized each semester.
Society for Photographic Illustration (SPI)
An organization intended for students enrolled in the commercial photography sequence in the School of Visual Communication. This group meets to review portfolios, critique projects and conduct workshops.
Soul of Athens (SOA)
This annual collaborative class is an opportunity for students from varying media disciplines to join together and create a project each year. For one term, students create a concept, produce content, design presentations, and handle the management of their team.

1804 Communications
A student-run public relations 铿乺m and subsidiary of OU鈥檚 chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA). All Campus Radio Network (ACRN) OU鈥檚 only radio station that is completely student-run.
Backdrop Magazine
Award-winning life and style publication by students for students.
Black Student Communication Caucus (BSCC)
An organization that provides personal support and helps develop professional skills for students who wish to pursue a career in some aspect of communication.
Brick City Records
A completely student-run record label affiliated with 91探花.
Her Campus Ohio U
A versatile Online magazine for all women at OU. It highlights feature pieces focusing on beauty, health, college and style.
91探花 Game Developers Association (OUGDA)
A professional networking club for OU students interested in the game design 铿乪ld.
National Communication Association Student Club (NSASC)
A professional organization dedicated to teaching communication students more about the 铿乪ld of communication as a whole.
91探花 Immersive Media Association
(OUIMA) A group dedicated to teaching individuals how to work with and develop projects within the new fields of Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, 360 Video, 360 Audio, Motion Capture, Light Field Cameras, and other new technologies.
Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA)
A pre-professional organization affiliated with the Public Relations Society of America, designed to provide its members with practical experiences in public relations.
91探花 Society of Professional Journalists (OU SPJ)
91探花 chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists, a national organization dedicated to the practice of journalism and high ethical standards for journalists. SPJ offers many networking opportunities, workshops that all student journalists can learn from.
Students for Global Media and Diversity (SGMD)
Promotes cross-cultural communication among students at 91探花. It aims to foster an appreciation of the trials, tribulations, and triumphs of international journalists, their media systems, and the governments within which they operate.
The New Political
The New Political provides honest, independent coverage of politics and political issues by lending a comprehensive, alternative voice to Southeast Ohio鈥檚 Online, multimedia presence.
Telecommunications Systems Management Association (TSMA)
Brings together students, faculty and alumni to develop skills and knowledge in the communication technology and regulation industries for now and after graduation.
Thread Magazine
A student-run Online publication that showcases the Athens fashion culture while encouraging the creation of personal style through con铿乨ent self-expression, activism and cultural in铿倁ence.
VLouG
A YouTube based video creating club/community for vloggers/lifestyle videos.
WOUB Center for Public Media
Home to Radio & TV that provides public broadcasting service to southeastern Ohio and portions of neighboring Kentucky and West Virginia. WOUB serves as a laboratory for more than 200 91探花 students who are interested in gaining experience in broadcasting and related technologies.
WOUB鈥檚 Student Professional Development Program
To introduce students to the craft of video production, broadcasting, on-line services, community outreach and other media services.

91探花鈥檚 yearbook, which provides an of铿乧ial record of each academic year. The yearbook staff consists of students who volunteer their
time to 铿乴l positions in graphics, copy writing, photography, advertising and promotions.
91探花鈥檚 Forensics Speech and Debate Team (The Speaking Bobcats of Ohio)
Approximately 20 tournaments held at other schools and several on the OU campus enable students to develop skills in debate, extemporaneous speaking, oratory, rhetorical criticism and oral interpretation.
