Geography – Meteorology Minor
Minor code OR4233
Faculty Contact: Dr. Harold Perkins
Program Overview
The meteorology minor offers coursework in basic meteorology, meteorological observations, and forecasting, including a series of synoptic and mesoscale meteorology courses.
The minor provides students with meteorological knowledge for related fields such as aviation, atmospheric chemistry, oceanography, or geology that will ultimately benefit them in their future careers.
Students who wish to be employed full-time as a meteorologist should major in meteorology rather than seek a minor. The minor is open to all undergraduates except those enrolled in the Geography?Meteorology major.
Careers and Graduate School
With a minor in meteorology, students are prepared for careers where meteorology is a leading but not dominant aspect of their career. Examples include: careers in the aviation industry; careers in environmental science, air quality, atmospheric chemistry, or with the Environmental Protection Agency; and graduate training in oceanography, geology, hydrology, or related fields.
