Hearing, Speech and Language Sciences Minor

The minor in Hearing, Speech and Language Sciences fosters learning related to communication sciences and the normal processes of human communication. It will provide an introduction to communication disorders.

The field is inherently interdisciplinary; few academic or clinical realms are unrelated to hearing, speech, and language sciences. Students wishing to pursue graduate studies in any clinical field can develop a good foundation through this minor.

Even those without professional interests related to communication disorders can benefit from an improved appreciation of issues related to a host of vital human communication issues that affect their everyday lives. Students considering graduate study in any OHIO Hearing, Speech, and Language Sciences programs (master's in speech-language pathology or doctor of audiology) are encouraged to complete the minor and any additional prerequisites.

To earn a minor in Hearing, Speech, and Language Sciences, students must complete a minimum of 21 semester hours of Hearing, Speech, and Language Sciences coursework. For detailed information on the curriculum, see the .
