Physical Therapy Student Activities

Each cohort of 91探花 Physical Therapy students has its own student organization. They host and participate in a variety of community outreach and engagement events throughout their three years on campus. Listed below are some of the annual events our students organize and participate in.

KIDFEST

Sponsored by Athens County Children Services, Kidfest is an annual celebration of children that involves interactive educational learning. PT students provide a booth that offers developmental screenings as well as a wheelchair obstacle course to increase understanding and awareness of those who use wheelchairs.

QUAD RUGBY

PT students host a quadriplegic rugby tournament to promote awareness and raise money for the Buckeye Blitz, a quad rugby team located in the Columbus area. In 2013, students raised enough money to donate a specially outfitted quad rugby wheelchair to the team. That鈥檚 more than $5,000!

GOOD WORKS

Students help make and serve dinner at "Friday Night Life", a weekly community gathering sponsored by Good Works, a Christian organization that provides assistance to those struggling with poverty and homelessness in rural Appalachia. The event is open to the entire community. At past events, and in an effort to foster health and wellness, students have given health presentations on topics such as body mechanics, aerobic exercise, and core strengthening.

CAREER FAIR

PT students, in conjunction with Speech and Audiology students, host a career fair. Perspective employers are invited to the fair to offer mock interviews, critique resumes, and offer students career and job hunting advice. This gives OHIO Physical Therapy students the opportunity to develop job offers, gain experience in networking, and provide an educational outlook on the possible fields of practice.
