A Professional Studio Art Degree with a Concentration in Art Therapy
What You'll Learn
This program focuses on the intersection of visual art and mental health. Students will create artwork in a broad range of studio courses, learn about art in context through art history courses, and gain a better understanding of human psychology. In the 鈥淚ntro to Art Therapy鈥 course, students experience how art can be used as a tool to improve lives.
Students will work with faculty from the Studio Arts, Art History, and Psychology fields to build on knowledge gained through a variety of General, Child and Adolescent and Psychopathology courses, and other curricular requirements meant to introduce a framework for understanding and application of art practices in health and wellbeing.

All students can apply directly to the B.F.A. Studio Art program. Along with the online application, students are required to submit a PDF portfolio of original artwork.

Applying to the Art Therapy concentration
Students apply to the BFA Studio Art program, either as an incoming student or as a current student. This process requires submission of a digital portfolio of 5-10 original works.
