Emma Grubb
Emmy transferred from Baylor University after beginning her Interior Design journey at their School of Family & Consumer Sciences. She joined the Interior Architecture program here at 91̽»¨â€™s School of Fine Arts and has appreciated its emphasis on both the art and science of design. She is from Cincinnati but chose Athens as her new home for its unmatched charm and character.
Her inspiration for THRIVE derives from her experiences with her grandmothers’ nursing home stays, particularly her namesake who spent a summer in a senior rehabilitation facility. The sense of chaos and constant turnover indicated to her that this sect of skilled nursing is often overshadowed by the larger, more profitable ones. With a greater focus on this transitional period and its space, seniors could experience greater results in their recovery and lose the need for residency when they leave rehabilitation with a stronger sense of community, belonging, and direction.
After graduating in May with her Interior Architecture Major and a Minor in Studio Art, she hopes to find work within her hometown. In the future she hopes to start her own business where she can travel and be her own boss.
